How does the triSWIMMING races work?
Everyone warms up. With 15-20 minutes to go before the swim start you will taken to the water and given the opportunity to warm up. This is important and something that many people don't do enough. You will be asking your body to go hard from the start, and in many cases harder than you want to, so being warmed up properly is important.
The races will both start together giving everyone the opportunity to experience a 'mass' start. This is one area of racing open water swim racing that can be quite scary, but to practise it and experience it before your 'A' race is great for your body and your head.
The whole field will start together and at the end of the first lap everyone will exit the water. those doing the 750m swim will run through the finish and have their time recorded. Thos doing the 1500m will run round past the finish line and back down the ramp to enter the water and swim their second lap of the lake. This part of the event adds a twist to the event and is great practise for those of you doing long course triathlons where exiting the water at half way is a common occurrence. At the end of the second lap you will exit the water once more and run though the finish line where your time will be recorded.
