Pool Sessions

Does all the swimming your doing consist of churning out length after length with no structure?
Are you sick and tired of not making progress with your swim fitness and stroke?
Are you intimidated by your local swim squad or triathlon club?
If you have asked yourself any of the questions above then we could have the perfect session for you at Hampton pool.

This session is a squad style session that is open to anyone who wants to attend. There is no membership or joining fee required and it doesn’t matter if you can swim like Michael Phelps or whether you can swim at all.
Each week there will be a structured swim session catering for all ability levels, so apart from understanding what the aims and objectives for the session are (which will be explained by your RG Active coach) you just have to turn up and swim.
Each week there will also be a lane set aside for ‘swim teaching’ where one of the RG Active coaches on poolside will be able to help you improve your stroke, teach you the basics, introduce you to new drills and techniques or just offer some much needed guidance on what you are or are not doing in the water.
Each of the 5 swim lanes will have similar session plans each week, but each lane with be slightly advanced from the previous, and the coaches will be on hand to help you swim in the correct lane for your ability so you are swimming with people that you can work together with.
We have managed to create a very relaxed, friendly and fun environment at our pool sessions and they continue to be very popular. You can work as hard or as easy as you like but under the guidance of the experienced RG Active coaches we know you will see the benefits from these fantastic sessions.

- SWIM COSTUME
Some people wear their tri-suit, some even wear their wetsuit but you will need something to swim in and I would always recommend something technical and tight fitting to prevent drag in the water. Why hinder your progress wearing baggy shorts?
- GOGGLES
Good goggles are very important to protect against chlorine and helps you see your stroke underwater. There are goggles available to purchase at every session from our partners at Speedo so see you RG Active Coach if you need goggle advice.
- PULL BUOY
A pull buoy is a figure-eight shaped piece of foam used by swimmers. The pull buoy is placed between the legs in the crotch area to provide support to the body without kicking the legs; this allows the swimmer to focus on training only their arms, and it also helps triathletes replicate their wetsuit buoyancy. There are pull buoys available to purchase at every session from our partners at Speedo.
- KICK BOARD
Kickboards are a flotation aid used to develop a swimmer’s kicking action. They can be used on all strokes but are primarily used on Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke. There are pull buoys available to purchase at every session from our partners at Speedo.
- FINS
Swimfins, swim fins, fins or flippers are worn on your feet and made from finlike rubber or plastic. They aid movement through the water and are a fantastic tool for increasing ankle flexibility. There are Speedo fins available to purchase via your RG Active coach.
- TOWEL
For obvious reasons a towel is needed for after the session, but because the pool is outdoors we do recommend you use your towel when coming from and going back to the changing rooms.
