Open Water Swimming
Description
Open water swimming can be an unpleasant experience, even for the most confident, abled pool of swimmers. You have trained for months for the distance and all of that hard work is undone by dozens, hundreds or even thousands of fellow competitors churning up the water around you. The mental focus that was once so simple during that pleasant swim in the lane at your local swimming pool becomes almost impossible with the sudden chaos you find yourself in. As if that wasn’t difficult enough, visibility is awful, there is no wall to push off, and the 10 degrees drop in water temperature has completely taken away your breath…….

But after all of that, I am happy to tell you that the sense of achievement you feel when you exit the water after that swim is like no other!

The rush you get when you finally exit the water knowing that you are on dry land. Whether you have crossed the finish line in a swim race, or you are now in transition 1 and getting ready for your bike or run you will feel the adrenaline flow through you, this is a feeling you will not experience very often so enjoy it, be proud of yourself and then start looking for the next time you can get into your special rubber suit!
