SW London Group Cycle Ride
Print This Page
In particular, cycling can be a discipline that many people tend to do solo, however this could be a reason for why you may not reach your full potential. Riding with other cyclists and especially more experienced cyclists can improve your performance and training experience to new levels.
RG Active are proud to offer you the chance to participate in our group training rides that wll be organised right through the Autumn/Winter periods in East London/Essex and SW London/Surrey areas.

These rides are designed to to offer you:
- Safe and lead routes that will return to back to the start with out use of maps, mobiles and taxis.
- Advice on riding position, bike set up
- Bike handling skills including cornering, climbing, descending, gearing etc.
- Fitness training advice
And a fun, friendly and relaxed environment to train with other people without things becoming a race or without the risk of getting left behind somewhere in a country lane, we start as a group, we finish as a group.
Each ride is structured to the abilities and levels of the group that attend on the specific day. We do ask that ALL participants are comfortable riding for 2.5 hours or longer when considering joining us on these rides.

- Sunday 29th January 2012 – 8am start

- A ROADWORTHY BICYCLE
Ideally this bicycle will be a road bike, however road orientated hybrid bikes are suitable in some cases, but I am afraid the use of mountain bikes is not appropriate for the rides.
- PUNCTURE REPAIR KIT/SPARES
We do recommend that everyone brings spares that will enable them to fix a flat tyre should the worst happen and you puncture when you are out. These spares include at least one new inner tube, two tyre levers and either a mini pump or two CO2 cannisters.
- CYCLE HELMET
This is a vitally important piece of equipment for obvious reasons. But we do operate a strict NO helmet, NO ride policy when participating in these rides and you will be turned away if you do NOT have a helmet on your head!
- CYCLING SPECIFIC CLOTHING
For those of you new to cycling what you wear is as important, if not more important than how or what you ride. Cycling specific shorts are possibly the most important as these will provide you with the comfort and protection for the 2+ hours you will be in the saddle. Other important items includes technical layered tops/jerseys, waterproof jacket, sunglasses, over shoes, arm/leg warmers, gloves etc.
For more advice on what to buy, or what to wear to make your winter riding more comfortable please EMAIL US.
- FOOD and DRINK
- FOOD and DRINK
The rides are 3-4 hours in duration and we always recommend having something to eat and drink both during and after the ride to keep yourself fuelled and hydrated.
We do have a selection of energy products available to purchase at every ride.
