UK Long Distance Training Camp
Description
After the massive success of our 2011 long distance camp we are repeating the camp and are happy to offer the new 2012 dates to anyone looking for a tough but enjoyable weekend of ‘long distance’ training.
Have you ever wanted to know what it is like to be a professional athlete?
One of the main differences that sets the professional athletes apart from everyone else is the time they get for recovery. After a long and/or hard training session most of you have to go to work, go do the shopping, take the children to school so never really just relax and let your body completely recover afterwards.
Well on a training camp you get that time to relax. You can go out and train as hard or as long as you want and do so knowing that after the session you can go back to your hotel room and relax, take a bath, sleep and let your body prepare itself ready for the next session.
With the increase of interest in long distance racing with athletes from the UK we are now offering an opportunity to maximise your preparation for going long with a weekend of focused and coached training to get you ready to tackle such incredible races.
Any athlete that is planning on doing 70.3, Ironman, Ultra Duathlons or even events like the Etape will benefit hugely from this weekend. The ability to train with other athletes that have similar goals and may even be racing the same events as you is invaluable.
After the enormous success of our Majorca training camp we are very happy to offer you the opportunity for some very specific ‘long distance’ training in the UK. Get some expert advice from the RG Active coaches to help prepare you for the challenges that lay ahead of you.
The accommodation for the camp is two shared farm houses that can house a total of 15 athletes. The houses have been renovated to a modern and high spec, with bedding and towels provided, all modern amenities and plenty of parking. We will be providing a local cook to prepare the evening meals leaving you plenty of time to relax, eat and of course train.

Training
You will spend your time riding through the hills and valleys of Worcestershire, Shropshire and Herefordshire, these roads are often used for a number of popular and challenging cyclosportives such as the Autumn Epic.
The running will take place around the country lanes which guarantee not being flat.
There will be swim time in a local swimming pool, where the emphasis of the session will be structuring your swimming towards distance and efficiency. The addition of a swim session will be determined by the clients and their specific goals as Etape and Duathlon athletes will not have a need for the swim.
Example itinerary taken from the weekend is:
- Friday – Arrive and 6-10 mile run
- Saturday – 80-100 mile cycle (possible addition of a swim session)
- Sunday – Brick session (60 mile bike followed by a 8-13 mile run) and depart
