Hello Everyone,
My name id Debbie and I am the RG Active ‘Arrows’ Junior Race Team ‘Head Coach’. The ‘Arrows’ are the junior section of the Senior RG Active Race Team and we are based in East London/Essex. Started in 2010 we have a growing Team that is already impressing on a regional and National stage. The emphasis is on ‘FUN’ but that doesn’t mean we aren’t competitive and this weekend saw a number of our athletes compete at the Tri Sport Epping Aquathlon event.
Here is how they did……. Make a note of these names people, we could easily have the next Brownlee or Wellington in our ranks?
Though the sun was out, it was rather windy on the Cooper’s playing field which resulted the temperature being brought down a notch or two.
For many of our members it was their first event ever and for those that had competed before, it was the first race of the season therefore we had several nervous young people.
We had members competing in nearly all the categories from the Tristarts to Youths, from our youngest member Luke Bishop, who only recently turned 8 to one of our oldest, at the grand old age of 15 Bethany Hall. In total we had 7 compete and had a terrific set of results with two 1st’s, one 2nd and one 3rd. We also managed to have three club inquiries, resulting in two passing over their details.
Here are the day’s Aquathlon results:
Tristarts Age group 8:
Luke Bishop 2nd - Swim time :00:59 (1) run time: 03:28 (2) overall time: 04:27 Luke only missed out by 3 seconds, reckon that was where he stayed in transition wondering what to do after the swim – I had to shout at him to chase after the boys who got in front of him.
Tristar 1 (9-10′s):
Amelia Owers 8th – Swim time 02:48 (4) run time 07:18 (10) overall time : 10:05
Tristar 2 (11-12′s):
Ben Davis 1st – Swim time 02:42 (1) run time 07:16 (3) overall time: 09:58. Ben won by 7 seconds and looked like he could have run even faster if somebody came up behind him but he had roughly 100m lead over the next person in his wave and couldn’t stop resisting the urge to look over his shoulder all the time.
Victoria Bishop 10th Swim time 02:44 (4) run time 09:14 (14) overall time 11:58.
Tristar 3 (13-14′s)
Sam Bishops 1st – Swim time 03:48 (2) run time 09:21 (1) overall time 13:09. Sam won by an impressive 17 seconds and roughly a 200m lead over the nearest person to him in his race, plus he had an awful transition where he couldn’t get his top on, as tried to put his head through his arm hole!!!!!!!!
Jeremy Nockles 9th – Swim time 03:52 (3) run time 10:45 (11) overall time 14:37.
Matthew Owers 18th – Swim time 04:52 (15) run time 11:46 (18) overall time 16:38.
Youth (15-16′s):
Bethany Hall 3rd – Swim time 04:59 (1) run time 12:15 (4) overall time 17:14. Committed Bethany had to leave straight after her race to go to Crystal Palace for a swimming gala, here’s hoping she done just as well there. I collected Bethany’s prize on her behalf and will drop round later.
So a BIG Well Done to everybody who competed and to the parents for their support. I’m really proud of you all, we may be small in numbers but we’re strong in force and team support.
Your in Sport,
Debbie (Head Coach – RG Active ‘Arrows’ Junior Race Team)
