Hello everyone,

I am not sure if you know but Dermott yesterday competed in the 10th

This was his first Ironman and although I will leave him to fill you all in with the details I thought I would write a post with his times and results.

I have not heard from him to find out exactly how he is feeling and what his personal thoughts were but from the results I would suggest that he is more than happy with what was, in my opinion a very successful day at the office!

2.4 mile SWIM time :  1hr 12mins 15 secs

Transition 1 : 8mins 04secs

112 mile BIKE time : 5hrs 12mins 13secs

Transition 2 : 4mins 35secs

26.4 mile RUN time (Marathon) : 3hrs 39mins 28 secs

Overall time : 10hrs 16mins 35secs

This placed Dermott 249th out of 2268 competitors overall and in his age group was 49th out of 236 men.

I know Dermott had said before the race that he was going to be happy just to finish but I know him and he had prepared very well for this race so I am very happy for him that everything went well. If he says otherwise I will be surprised but we will see when he returns.

The race was won overall by Tom Evan of Canada in a time of 8hrs 07mins (new course records) and the womens race by British female athlete Bella Comerford in a time of 9hrs 07mins (this her 5th win at Florida).

Anyway I am going to leave this post here for now, as the Brazilian Grand Prix is about to start and I have to watch Lewis Hamilton become the next English World Champion and see how Jenson gets on as well in the last race of the 2008 season.

Speak to you all soon,

John (on behalf of Dermott, who is now an IRONMAN)!

Outstanding performance, well done Dermott. You were also mentioned on the East London e Group(courtesy of Rob Moorehead-Lane) for all those who remember you from when you were a member there.
